Honda Gold Wing 2021 Overview

Honda Gold Wing is a touring motorcycle and it was manufactured by Honda, which is the leading automobile manufacturing company. This bike is included in the touring bike series, which was launched in 1974 and it got tremendous popularity all over the world. This motorbike has the signature shaft driver and flat engine.

The 1st generation was GL 1000 and it featured a 999 cm³ engine with an electric starter and dummy fuel tank. The real fuel tank was available under the seat to bring the center of mass downward. In 1979, Honda launched the second generation of Honda Gold Wing and it was named GL 1100. It has healthy competition with Suzuki and Kawasaki and it has increased the horsepower of GL 1100 it was considered the first Japanese full-dress tourer and it was produced in 1983 with minor modifications.

Honda launched its Honda Gold Wing third generation, which was GL 1200 model in 1984. This bike has strong competition with Yamaha and it was added with an upgraded engine design and taller gearing to minimize vibration and noise. The new frame of this bike was stronger but the overall weight of the bike was not increased.

The manufacturer exhibited the fourth generation of Honda Gold Wing in 1987 and this bike was termed as GL 1500. Various changes were made in the inception of Gold Wing and it was added with the flat-six engine, backrest for the rear passenger, seamless plastic body, and reverse gear GL 1500 was added with some modern features, and the production of this bike continued till 2000.

The company launched its Honda Gold Wing 5th generation in 2001 and it was given the title of GL 1800 this bike has the features of the previous design with slight modifications and various new features were added in this model. The manufacturer released its new bike, Honda Gold Wing 6th generation in 2018, and the bike has the features of the last design with minor modifications and various new features were introduced in this bike. This motorbike was released in the market in two variants, the standard Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour. Various technological advancements were introduced in this model and it got a small upgrade in 2020 the trunk size was also increased and red turn signals.

The motorbike, New Gold Wing was introduced in the market in 4 variants like Gold Wing Automatic DCT, Gold Wing Tour, Gold Wing Tour Automatic DCT, and Gold Wing Tour Automatic Airbag DCT.

The new model of the motorbike, Honda Gold Wing has a liquid-cooled 4-stroke 24-valve SOHC flat-6 engine and it has a displacement of 1833 cc. Gold Wing Tour is provided with a six-speed transmission with overdrive and electric reverse. Gold Wing automatic DCT, Gold Wing Tour Automatic Airbag DCT, and Gold Wing Tour automatic DCT have the seven-speed automatic DCT and the walking and reverse mode are also introduced in this bike. The engine can have the capability of maximum power output and maximum torque.

Honda Gold Wing has a capacity of the fuel tank of 21.1 liters and the overall dimensions of the automatic variants is 2,615 mm x 925 mm x 1,430 mm and the manual has the dimensions of 2,615 mm x 905 mm x 1,430 mm. The height of the seat is 745 mm and ground clearance is 130 mm and the wheelbase of the bike is 1695 mm.

You can load 61 liters of luggage, which is 11 liters over the previous model. Gold Wing Tour automatic airbag DCT is provided with the airbag to get more security.
