. Is it normal for the Suzuki Swift’s engine to consume more oil over time?

Some owners of older Suzuki Swift models report that their cars consume more oil as they age. Is this normal wear and tear, o r are there issues with the piston rings, valve seals, o r the engines internal components that could be causing excessive oil consumption?
