Air Filter Cleaning

i used to see people blowing air to get the airfilter cleaned

My Question is?

Can we wash the airfilter with like surf to get it
white and then dry it and use it???

Pls dont mind if u think its stupid

i wash my airintake with petrol n it works perfectly fine!it takes out all the sand,dirt etc etc frm it n leaving it as good as new!the paper doesnt absorb petrol n it evaporates asap!
