Many Hilux owners experience thermostat failure between 100,000 to 150,000 km, though some may fail earlier due to poor coolant quality, overheating, o r extreme driving conditions.

Common warning signs before failure include:

Temperature gauge fluctuations rising and falling unpredictably
Overheating, especially in traffic o r under load
Poor heater performance blowing cold air even when the engine is warm
Coolant leaks around the thermostat housing
Check Engine Light CEL for coolant temperature issues

If these signs appear, its best to inspect and replace the thermostat promptly with an OEM Toyota part to avoid severe overheating and engine damage.
