Brake mechanism!

Brake mechanism!

Salam!
i just want to know about the braking mechanism of my corolla 98 XEG. A guy was telling me that it is 2 disc(front) and 2 drum(rear) brakes.
he added that on applying the brakes the front disc brakes do the job in stopping the car, while the rear drum brakes are just for handbrake.

I just want to know if this was correct or not.

I also want to know about the 4 wheel disc brakes of new corolla.
i think on the brakes the 4 work for stopping car and the 2 discs of rear are also for hand brake.

And what about the mehran's brakes are they drum?
and 2 front for braking and 2 rear for handbrake?

thanx

yes your car has two disc brakes at the front and two drum brakes at the rear...

in every car, when normal footbrake is applied, all four brakes are used to stop the car... whereas while the handbrake is applied, it only works on the rear brakes irrespective of what setup u have i.e. four disc, four drums or 2disc and 2 drums...

and mehran has four wheel drum brakes... and the braking mechanism is same...

i hope it answers ur question...
