Can a faulty water pump cause my Alto Lapin’s engine to overheat?
My Alto Lapin’s engine has been overheating recently, and I’m concerned that the water pump may be faulty. How can I check if the water pump is malfunctioning, and how does it contribute to overheating in hot climates like Pakistan’s?

Yes, a faulty water pump can cause the engine to overheat by preventing the circulation of coolant through the engine and radiator. The water pump pushes coolant from the radiator through the engine and back, maintaining a stable temperature. If the pump fails o r its impeller is damaged, the coolant won’t flow as needed, leading to overheating.
Signs of a Faulty Water Pump:
Overheating engine: If the engine is overheating and coolant levels are fine, the water pump may not be circulating coolant properly.
Coolant leaks: A faulty water pump often leads to coolant leaking from the pump area, which can cause further overheating.
Unusual noises: A failing water pump may produce whining o r grinding noises due to worn-out bearings o r impeller damage.
Poor heater performance: If the water pump is malfunctioning, the cabin heater may blow cold air, as coolant isnt circulating to the heater core.
Solution:
Inspect the water pump: If you notice coolant leakage around the pump o r unusual noises, have the water pump inspected by a mechanic.
Replace the water pump if needed: A faulty water pump needs to be replaced to restore proper coolant circulation and prevent further engine damage.
