Can a Prius be jump-started like a regular car if the 12V battery dies?

Unlike conventional cars, the Prius relies on its 12V battery to start the hybrid system. What is the correct and safest way to jump-start a Prius without damaging its electrical system?

Yes, a Prius can be jump-started, but with some important precautions:

Use the Correct Procedure:
Locate the Jump-Start Terminals: Unlike most cars, the Prius has a jump-start terminal under the hood usually near the fuse box where you can connect jumper cables.
Connect the Jumper Cables: Connect the positive terminal of the 12V battery in the other car to the Prius positive terminal, and the negative terminal of the other car to a ground point metal part of the engine block in the Prius.
Avoid Directly Jump-Starting the Hybrid System: Never attempt to jump-start the hybrid battery directly. Always focus on the 12V auxiliary battery.
Safety First: Be sure to follow the correct order when connecting and disconnecting the cables to avoid damage to the Prius electrical system.
