Can a weak hybrid battery cause alternator-like failure symptoms?

In traditional cars, a failing alternator leads to battery drainage. In a Prius, if the hybrid battery is weak o r failing, can it cause similar symptoms, such as difficulty starting, dim lights, o r electronic malfunctions?
