Can Faulty Pistons Cause Excessive Oil Consumption in My

My Suzuki Alto has been using more engine oil than it should, and I’m worried that it could be due to a problem with the pistons o r piston rings. Could worn-out pistons o r damaged piston rings cause this excessive oil consumption? How can I diagnose this issue, and what’s the best solution?

Yes, faulty o r worn pistons can cause excessive oil consumption in your Suzuki Alto. The pistons and piston rings are responsible for sealing the combustion chamber, and when they are worn o r damaged, oil can leak into the combustion area and burn off.

Worn Piston Rings: Piston rings prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber. If they become worn o r damaged, oil can mix with the air-fuel mixture and be burned off during combustion, leading to excessive oil consumption.
Damaged Pistons: If the pistons themselves are cracked o r damaged, they might not form a good seal in the cylinder, which can also result in oil burning off.
Solution:

Compression Test: A compression test can help determine if the piston rings o r pistons are the cause of excessive oil consumption. If the compression is low, it might indicate worn piston rings.
Engine Overhaul: If the issue is related to worn pistons o r piston rings, an engine overhaul may be required, which involves replacing the damaged components.
