Changing Gear Oil in Coure

Changing Gear Oil in Coure

I had the gear oil of my Cuore (manual transmission on petrol) changed at 10500 Km. Old oil came out to be pretty dirty. The mechanic put in 2 liters of Caltex gear oil (orange colored can) saying it was enough.

Now the gear shifts are harder, especially when the car is cold. Is takes longer for the gears to smooth up as the warms up.

The new oil should be more viscous but shouldn't it also be more lubricating? Are the harder shifts normal?

Is the gear oil quantity correct?

Smaller engines have smaller transmissions thats why i always say that small car need early Oil changes.

Caltex has 2 Grades in Gear Oil, Which one did you use ? You should use the less thicker one and the Quantity should be right.
