Diesel Engine Starting

Diesel Engine Starting

Dear

As many of us have the Diesel Engine Cars/SUVs/Trucks/Vans/Buses but one thing i have noticed that from Observation that From Driver to Driver the Starting Technique/Habit differs as some Drivers alwasy starts with Heater while some strightly start with Self.

Please discuss here that we should always either from Cold Engine or already driven i means engine with some temperature start with heater or only start with Heater when Engine is cold and rest just go with Self.

Or if engine is in good condition then no need to Heater and just Self

Also please elaborate any draw backs of the Heater starting and non heater starting on Engine and Heaters Health.

Regards

I had the same question in my mind. Few years back i remember that my father, our drivers, relatives who had mitsu double cabs, usual diesel engines etc used to give heaters. But now seems like, due to new technology this trend is gone although that tied up rope like light still appears on dash panel of new diesel vehicles. My dad has new 2.0D and i've never seen him or the driver waiting for that light to go off although i do.

Now the things is, is it harmful for the engine or not?
