Do performance upgrades destroy ur engine

i've heard that performance upgrades such as platinum plugs ,, exhaust systems ,,, sports air intake systemss,,, and stuff like turbos n **** destroys the engine ....is it true?????

turbo surely weaks the engine of ur car if its stock engine....air inatke enhances air2fuel mixture which is good for any car...exhaust.intake.plugs and plug wires just give ur car an extra kick but as far as i think there is no harm intalling them all...but turbo on stock engine like paki vtec ruins the engine...cause its internals are too weak to take the pressure of turbo ...correct me if i am wrong...
