Does a bad Crank Sensor lights up the check engine light?

As the topic says does a bad crank sensor gives a error code? or is there any other way to check it?fficeffice" />

Recently since some days my dads Baleno has been giving issues, it drives a zillion kms without issue but sudenly dies in traffic, or frequent 1st 2nd gear changes, thats realy irritating in traffic as people start horning and the car just wont start.

aftr 5mins or more its again a-okay.

"What my knowledge says about the crank sensor is that it works and dies when its hot and again starts working when it cools down"

This just didnt seem to happen in front of mechanics, yesterday a mechanic went for a test drive with my dad and the car did die, this guy said "the crank sensor seems bad and i have a spare one" (hes a road side electritian but my dad noes him since ages)

He had a scraped one, he changed it after half an hour we took a drive it seemed okay but he was asking 4.5k so the deal was called off.

I inquired shair shah (scrap market) its avalible for Rs.1500 (with one day checking waranty).

New one is for Rs.2200 (i think no warranty on electric parts).

Id probably buy a new one with negotiating the price.

But the question is how to check if its actualy the crank sensor thats bad or theres some other issue.

One thing is for sure that its a electrical fault and not mechanical..

Once again can we check the sensor some how or replacing it is the only solution.

i had this prob in my 01 prosmatec... car used to die with increase in temperature... got it checked from honda center... turned out to be bad crank sensor... tried a used 1 from chah sultan (costed me 3900/-) but the problem remained... finally purchsed new one from honda I-10 and its working fine till date (had 3 months warrenty)...

from what you ve told, its a crank sensor issue... my suggestion would be go for a new one...
