Effectiveness of CiviC's Immobilizer

hi all
i happen to own a Civic 2009, VTi Oriel
just going through different threads, im thinking how effective is the builtin immobilizer anti theft system?
i mean is it really trustworthy and can i forego the use of a mechanical Crook or steering lock and rely only on the immobilizer?
any one who has some knowledge or experience may please put me wise on the subject!

Immobilizer are very very effective but if you give your keys to someone who has the required equipment then it would be not that hard to find out the code for the key and hence a duplicate key can be generated.

In absence of keys it's gonna take a longgggg time to break the code which is not practical for thieves, so car like these are then snatched on gun point
