Engine missing, honda integra

Hi, my friend owns a honda integra 1990 DA5 with ZC sohc 1600cc. the engine has been missing for quite a while now. chnaged spark plugs and wires. cleaned the AICV. was told to clean the FITV, it doesnt exist in that engine. the exhaust can be heard making puff,.... puff ......................puff sounds at idle. dont know whats the problem. the sometimes the car electrics become dim as wel and stereo resets. can anyone help. thanks
