Engine Number confusion

Engine Number confusion

Salam,

I recently faced a problem and i guess everyone does who's searching for a 2nd hand engine in kabarh market.lemme explain the problem,
I went to bilal gunj (lahore) in search of a honda engine for a frd's car.The car is civic 2000 exi.In bilal gunj the shopkeepers showed us different engines, which were tagged as D15B, and almost every engine shown to us had same tag.when i googled D15B i found like 9 variants of same engine with power range from 70bhp to 130bhp.
Now the question is,how to determine the origin (donor car) of such engines,as shopkeepers usually don't have any info regarding the donor car expect kah yeh Japani hai or yeh American.

basically the number that you saw was the clock code which is d15b, now generally during the life of a block design, there are various variants offered depending on many things, the difference is basically the head and the internals and the fuel management(ecu), so the different versions that you are seeing are the various heads on d15b block.

so look at the head code, that will explain everything.
