Excessive smoke diesel Engine
what could be the reason for excessive smoke from a diesel engine? when there is no apparent fault in the car like starting problem, loss of power or pickup or any unusual sound from the engine. Car in question is a 04 1.5dci Renault megane. Spoke to my cousin a fresh motor sport engineer he suggested to check its EGR valve checked.

Awais - on 18 Dec 2010 09:50:10 amyep EGR valve sticking open when operating, excessive smoke may also be caused by a badly gunked Air mass sensor
