Exhaust & Engine Mounts.....
Exhaust & Engine Mounts.....
Hello
My car, charade diesel, was running just fine and suddenly I had this brainwave to fix a slight leakage from the exhaust pipe.
The guilty part is called a "Jaali". Its a flexible portion of the exhaust pipe around 10 to 14 inches in length, with a spring like pipe enclosed in a gauze.
The mechanic removed it and peeled off the protective gauze from it. Then to be really "helpful', he said dont replace it. He welded it and was done!
Within 24 hours the car became a jumbo jet - insofar as noise was concerned.
I consulted another mechanic and he replaced the jaali, costing me around 1000 rs. He also cautioned me to immediately get the engine mounts checked.
But, me being the king of lazy mankind did not heed his advice.
After a couple of weeks this new jaali also got broken.
Now I have got the mounts fixed BUT want a cost-effective way of repairing this jaali without replacing it.
You know what I mean. I have just spent 3000 rs for the so-called Kabli Mounts and want to REPAIR the jaali.
Please help me. Can a welded jaali last a reasonable amount of time, if the mounts are fixed.
Thanks
Moral of the Lesson: Try to live with small problems in an old car without taking 'Panga'
PS: By the way, what is the technical name for this Jaali

when your mounts get weak, they engine moves around alot moe than normal, that explains why your "jaalis" keep dying. the 1st silencer walla was clearly an idiot and you should make him pay you back for all the added headaches you've had so far.
my accords jalli went years ago, i just went and bought a new one,... never gae issues again.
in pakistan people will pay 500rs 10 times to get the same problems fixed again and again, rather than 5000 once,.. never made sense to me.
BTW to correct way to check if the part with water would be to fill it with PRESSURIZED WATER not water under atmospheric pressure so thechnically the mechanic didn't do anything spectacular except a little bit of "magic" to impress you.
