First Oil change

Friends,
I have driven my new Alto VXR about 1400 km on petrol. When should i do first oil change as the Suzuki guys say that I should change it after 5000 kms?

Check the service manual. I think first oil is always changed after 1,000kms. Could be wrong though (haven't bought a brand new car in years )
