How can one differentiate between a dead battery and a faulty starter motor in a Prius?

Many owners mistake a dead 12V battery for a bad starter motor. What are the best ways to diagnose whether the issue is with the battery, alternator, o r the starter motor?

Battery Check: If you turn the key and the lights o r accessories still work but the engine doesn’t start, it’s usually a starter motor issue. If nothing works, the battery is likely dead.
Jump Start Test: If jump-starting the car works, the issue is most likely the battery. If the car still doesnt start, the starter motor may be faulty.
Multimeter Test: Use a multimeter to check the voltage of the 12V battery. A voltage under 12V indicates a weak o r dead battery, while a functioning battery should show 12.6V.
