Impact of Temperature on Tire Pressure: Tire pressure is heavily influenced by temperature fluctuations. In Pakistan, with hot summers often above 40°C in cities like Karachi and Lahore and cold winters which can below freezing, especially in the northern regions like Murree, tire pressure can fluctuate significantly. For every 10°C change in temperature, tire pressure changes by about 1-2 psi pounds per square inch. In hot weather, tires will expand, increasing their pressure, while in cold weather, they will contract, reducing pressure.

Precautions:

Regular Monitoring: Owners should check tire pressure frequently, especially during seasonal transitions.
Proper Inflation: Ensure tires are inflated to the manufacturer-recommended PSI, which can typically be found on the door frame o r inside the owner’s manual.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS: While the Toyota Prius has a TPMS, relying solely on it can sometimes give false readings. It’s recommended to double-check with a manual tire pressure gauge.
Adjust for Temperature: Inflate tires during the cooler parts of the day early morning o r late evening to avoid readings skewed by daytime heat.
Consider Nitrogen Inflation: Some owners may choose nitrogen over air as it’s less affected by temperature fluctuations.
