How does a faulty inverter water pump affect the performance of a Toyota Prius?

The Prius has both an engine water pump and an inverter cooling water pump. How does a failing inverter pump impact the hybrid system, and what warning signs indicate an issue with it?

The Prius has a dedicated water pump to cool the inverter. If this pump fails:

Inverter Overheating: The inverter, which is critical for power distribution between the engine and hybrid battery, may overheat.
Hybrid System Shutdown: The system may shut down to prevent damage, often triggering a warning light e.g., Check Hybrid System.
Increased Strain: Without adequate cooling, the inverter’s efficiency and lifespan are severely reduced, leading to reduced hybrid performance.
