How does the inverter and DC-DC converter failure affect the Prius’ electrical system?

Since the Prius doesn’t use a conventional alternator, it depends on the DC-DC converter to charge the 12V battery. If this fails, what electrical problems can arise, and how can owners confirm if the inverter o r converter is faulty?

The inverter and DC-DC converter are crucial to maintaining the Prius’ electrical system. A failure in either of these components can cause the following issues:

Inverter failure: If the inverter fails, the car may not be able to manage power between the hybrid battery and the electric motor effectively, causing the engine to run less efficiently o r result in a check hybrid system warning.
DC-DC converter failure: This will prevent the 12V battery from charging. Without a charged 12V battery, essential electrical components such as lights, displays, and even the cars ability to start may fail.

Confirmation:

Check the inverter’s output voltage and monitor the charging status of the 12V battery.
Perform an OBD-II scan to look for specific inverter o r DC-DC converter faults.
