How to repair fuel gauge?

How to repair fuel gauge?

i have datsun 120y B210.
its fuel gauge is not working properly. if any one of u have any idea about how to repair it, then please share it with me.
it's new gauge costs about RS. 400 which i think is too much for it as it is nothing but a thin wire which act as a resistance.
is there any alternative solution?

thanx!

If you are getting a NEW guage for your old Datsun, consider yourself lucky!

I suggest you go ahead and buy it right away without second thoughts.

A DIY is possible provided you know what the resistance of the wire is. If yours is broken badly you can search on the internet for 120y fans who may be able to pinpoint you in the right direction n possibly let you know the resistance value.

Alternatively if you were a good student of physics and have the sample wire you can calculate the resistance yourself.

But personally I think this should be avoided as theres a good margin of error possible. You dont want to have a dry tank while the guage shows that it is half full, do you???

The time n energy you will spend in trying to solve the riddle PLUS searching for a suitable wire would probably be worth more than rs 400.

So I suggest you go ahead and buy a new guage.

Best regards.
