Idea of cleaning petrol tank ?

hey guys ,
my mechanic believes my petrol tank needs cleaning and on petrol my car knocks like hell so i feel hes right just need to ask our experts here that what would be the precautions i need to follow as mechanics just do things quickly and they dont care about following the correct procedure as he already said no need to clean it with any thing else just petrol will taken out and he will wash it and put it back , i need some good cleaning techniques so i will guide him to do that while my tank is out please share some cleaning names and brand if u believes they are good to clean the petrol tank thanks in advance .

for knocking i would advice you to first empty the tank to maximum fill 1000 rs high octane drive and see if problem solves.
otherwise go for tank cleaning no science in it . let the mechanic do his job.
