A weak ignition coil can cause engine misfires, which result in rough idling, hesitation, o r jerking while accelerating. You may notice decreased engine performance, such as sluggish acceleration o r a in power, especially under load. The check engine light might turn on, often accompanied by trouble codes related to misfires, like P0300 o r specific cylinder misfire codes. Poor fuel efficiency is another sign, as incomplete combustion from a weak coil can lead to higher fuel consumption. Rough idling and vibrations while the car is stationary o r at low speeds may occur as well. Starting the engine could become more difficult, with extended cranking time, and you might experience backfiring due to improper ignition timing. If you observe any of these issues, it’s advisable to have the ignition coil checked o r replaced.
