Information required about shock foundations

Hi,

i am having Mehran 2001 model car, it is working fine, today when went for oil change, mechanic told me to change the shock foundations.
i am not sure what to do as he is not a reliable mechanic. so i want to know what is the purpose of shock foundations and on which conditions i should change them.

you can also see the condition of both shock foundations in these images.

to check them, u need to remove the cover... that can b easily done... than u'll see a bolt in the center of the rubber.... push the car up and down from each side one by one and see the bolt if its showing any movement / crack... if its there u need to change them...
