I have a question. Why people after completing initial running in their new engines go for a drive with maximum possible speeds. I mean why it cant be done on low gears with high rpm, why do we have to run it with high gears on high rpms.To illustrate if a car has maximum 5000rpm and it attains following speeds on 4000rpm

1st gear=25
2nd gear=50
3rd gear=80
4th gear=120
5th gear=160

Why that high rpm running is not done on 2nd or 3rd gear and why it is done on 5th gear. Also most cars dont achieve the same rpms in 5th gear that they achieve in 1st or 2nd gear. So it would be more suitable to do high rpm running in low gears

Please clear if I am wrong

I have seen people do that.

I think it has more to do with opening up the engine, setting standards for your car at a subconscious level, testing her limits..telling her what she'll be expected to do in future.

Its analogical to what traditionally happens in marriages : the wife is pampered in the first few days of marriage, complimented, but after a while she's mostly found working overtime reproducing at an immense pace.
