Mark 2 suspension problem

aoa all.............i have a 1974 mark2...........the problem i am facing is that inspite of being heavy, it lacks grip..........i have changed the tyres.......205/15 but still mt problem is not solved........the original back suspension bush are not available in the market anymore..........so i have to switch to the LOCAL bushes which didnt serve my purpose...........PLUS my car is around 5'' raised frm the back..........does lowering it serve my purpose???????????? please give your valueable suggestions.........................
