My 2C Engine gets noisier
My 2C Engine gets noisier
Ok the car under discussion is 2.0D Saloon 2005 model. It had been running all fine.....very good sound, mileage, no smoke at all.... and i have been maintaining/servicing it well as well with genuine parts .... but for the past few days (since the weather has turned bit cold, i think) it has started to produce alot of sound.... vibration in the engine has also increased. One can continuously feels the vibration at steering wheel....the car tends to raced up (slightly) even during the long journeys....checked the cold advancer as well ...it gets detached with the accelerator after some running but the engine still remains raced up. During day times the sound is relatively less compared to colder times of the day. and secondly....the sound gets extremely rattly between 2000 - 2400 RPM after then it quitens up a bit....but on the whole the engine seems to have lost its smoothness...I dont know why...replaced the Air filter but no effect.....also serviced fuel filter. Anyone?

Check the air filter box, it may be that the person installing the air filter did not reconnect a pipe correctly or not tightened it enough, we had a 2.0D Corolla with the same noise problem and found out that the air filter box had a crack on the bottom so didn't seal properly, once the crack was repaired the noise went away,
the only thing that concerns me a bit is why you are feeling vibrations in the steering wheel and why the ride isn't smooth,
how much mileage has your car covered, ever had anything done with the fuel pump or injectors?
