Need tips for Engine overhaul

I will going to get my Cultus engine overhaul, i would like to have tips or guidance from you guys for overhauling engine? Like do i suppose to be sit with the mechanic all the time or I can just park my car to him... How do i check if he will use reliable items?

I am lil bit worried, this going to be first time i just can not figure out what things i should keep in mind?

Besides is it reliable to get engine overhaul? will car then run in long time?

Any tips or guidance will be appreciated brothers... Besides i also would like to know normally how much Cultus (non efi) engine should cost for overhauling, as one mechanic quote me around 15 to 20K another quote 25 to 30K?

If you know any reliable and good mechanic please give me his contact address?
