Problem with Car Battery :: Plz Advise

I faced problem with my battery today... i parked my vitz after getting it washed at abt 1100hrs in morning today... it was total fine.... no issue at all... but when i tried to start it in evening at abt 1800hrs, i couldn't start as battery was exhausted... I am worried how come a perfect working battery for more than a year, drops voltage from 12 to 7~8 V just in 7hrs... where does all the current got drain so quickly... there was no ON headlights or any other explicit drain... can anyone help me on this...
now i got a new maintenance free battery of 45 amp hr for 6K... according to sales guy, it is equivalent to 60Ah of local batteries... i fear if there is some problem like short wiring or such thing which can damage this battery as well... plz guide...

This problem has occured when the battery is servised after a long time. When we put acidified water in batteries which are almost drained, the acid destroys the remaining life of the cells, hence the sudden loss in battery power.
Just make sure to check the battery levels regularly, every 2-4 wks, and always put distilled water in it, not acidified water in bottles.
