Query regarding car lamps.

wanted to ask the auto gurus why cant a technology such as the one used in "philips energy saver bulb" we use in our homes, be incorporated in cars.Its also got great luminous intensity and a bright white color but a low price tag as compared to the H.I.Ds. (keeping in mind that i'm not inferring that energy saver bulbs are comparable with HIDs...instead they're far much better than those blue xenon bulbs)

not much point to having an energy saver bulb in a car since a car produces it's own electricity. the closest alternative would be a HID setup, but as you already said it is a very expensive option.
