Questions regarding brakes

What difference does 4 disk brakes make in comparison with 2 disk brakes, all without ABS?

Whenever they mention ABS, they tell the number of channels and number of sensors, what are those?

four disc brakes simply means that the car has a brake rotor or disc on all four wheels. in contrast...a two wheel disc setup has rotors in the front and drumbrakes in the rear.

drum brakes use a brake shims inside the drum assembly while disc brakes use a caliper with pads inside...which is then mounted on top of the caliper.

so a four disc setup is more powerful and efficient. plus pads have a much longer life than shims.

without ABS...the caliper would just lock on the rotor and with ABS...it will strike the rotor several times a second to slow its speed. that way....u avoid locking of the rotor and the car does not skid while braking the same distance.

in canada...ABS will become standard this year on all cars cuz of the snowy driving conditions in the winter months.

BY THE WAY....you posted your question in the wrong forum...it should be mechanic and technical.
