Regenrative braking system

salam u alaikum
any body knows the curcuitry,how to convert motor in to generator?
when we cut off the power supply the motor takes input from the wheels and gives electrical output!!!!!!
the question is that what is the curcuit that allows it to happen?
and how we apply load to produce braking effect???

well it depends upon the construction of motor or generator,

if generator is self excited then its possible to convert it into motor and vice versa.
other wise if it is excited from external source then it is not possible my friend

and yes braking can be applied, if the rotation if motor is changed
