Replacing the Engine in a 2000 Cultus with an EFI Model

Hey everyone, I have a 2000 model Cultus, and the engine is feeling pretty weak. I’m thinking about swapping it for an EFI model, like the limited edition. Is that a reliable option? A mechanic told me it might not be the best idea. What do you think?
