RX8 Info and tech details

hi there guys and gurus of motor world

sallam

i have some question regarding RX8 and for the past several months i've been seeing on this that there are some selling RX8's at a surprisingly low price and since its one of my favourite cars. so can anyone tell me some general details about it like:

A. Fuel efficency like avg. (since its a sports car with a 1.3 litre renesis rotary engine) so how about in a litre/km?

B. Is it worth of buying this type of car such as performance and also possible to do some modifications on it in future.

most important is the price coz the last cheapest price i've seen is 1,085,000 for a 2003

so plz update me that is it really going this cheap coz im not in the country for the last one year, but almost regularly visiting this site (its my favourite) as im doing my masters in london and planning to buy this car when i'll come back in the future inshallah.

Mazda RX-8 was launched in year 2003 in Japan domestic market. Since 99.99% of RX-8 imported to Pakistan are from the Japanese market we should only consider the technical specs and performance figures of the Japanese version. All RX-8 come with the same "13B" non-turbo/naturally aspirated rotary engine but power ratings are different for the 3 different grades "Type S", "Standard" and "Type E".

So here are the latest official specs and figures from Mazda Japan:

RX-8 Power ratings & Transmissions:

"Type S": 6-Forward manual transmission, 250 PS (247 BHP)

"Standard": 5-Forward manual transmission, 210 PS (207 BHP)

"Type E": 6-Speed automatic transmission, 215 PS (212 BHP)

NOTE: In years 2003 to 2005 the "Standard" and "Type E" grades had a lower power rating of 200 PS (197 BHP) and the "Type E" came with a 4-Speed automatic transmission only.

RX-8 Fuel consumption:
"Type S": 9.4 km/litre
"Standard": 10.0 km/litre
"Type E": 9.0 km/litre

RX-8 Acceleration:
"Type S": 0-100 km/h in 6.0-6.5 sec. 0-1/4 mile (0-400 metres) in 14.0-14.5 sec @ 155-160 km/h
The other grades are obviously not as quick as "Type S"

RX-8 Top speed:
180 km/h for all grades (All Japanese domestic market passenger vehicles are electronically restricted to 180 km/h max velocity. The fuel supply to the engine cuts off as soon as the vehicle reaches 180 km/h)

The engine oil and oil filter replacement intervals are officially recommended at every 8,000 kms for severe running conditions and 12,000 kms for normal running conditions. However, it should be pointed out that the rotary engine consumes a fair bit of engine oil so the oil dipstick should be checked after every 1,000-2,000 kms and engine oil should be topped up if the level is too low.

So there is nothing to be really suspicious about, go ahead and buy an RX-8. By the way, the '03 RX-8 being advertised here in PakWheels for Rs.1,085,000 is a "Standard" grade with 5-Forward manual transmission (200 PS / 197 BHP) and has 16" wheels. Obviously not as quick as the "Type-S" grade that has 6-Forward manual transmission (250 PS / 247 BHP) and comes with 18" wheels.
