Spark Plugs....when to change them ?? plz advice

Hello Everyone.
Just want to know when to change the spark plugs?
I mean should I change it in 6-8 months time or it depends on kms done ?

I have heard that if spark plugs run out then the car uses more fuel ?? Is this true ?

more imprtantly than changing your plugs you should get them out , have then cleaned and make sure you have the correct plug gap.

Also a plug (colour & depoists) can tell you alot about the engines condition.
