Spectra gear box auto transmission down !!!

well i need some info ....my friend he had spectra auto and had done only 54000 km, his car gear box is completely non functional......now i have qs here....

1, how come with such low mielage , transmission gave up.
2, what could be the solution
3, gear box repair kit is now available with dewan.
4, is it car fault or his fault......like i have never is seen or heard gear box giving up at around 54000km....as far is ma friend is concern he is careful and use to keep his car update like transmission oil change etc.....

please suggest ......

Best thing to do it to put blame on the car because its labelled a flop long time ago but your friend and his mechanic are in the best position to answer your questions
