Suggestions regarding A/T

i have got a A/T 08 civic and i have always been driving cars having manual transmission now i have no experince regarding auto tranny.... i dont even know which ration to use when... only i know is R for Reverse D am driving at this and P ( parking)

D1
??? and regarding tranny oil ??

D3 limits the transmission gears to March 1, D2 - the first and second gear, and D1 / L first gear. Meaning in D1 / L just change the transmission in second gear, instead, remains in first.

I personally only used the lower ratios when I went to Colorado and drove from the mountains. Keeping in D1 / 2 and down hill puts less pressure on the brakes so they do not warm. Other than that always drove on D. The new (post Fast and the Furious) generation tends to use the lower options as a make-shift manual transmission.
