Synthetic oil & old engines

Synthetic oil & old engines

I think the following two stmts are true for synthetic oils:

1. Once synthetic oil is used in an engine, mineral can't be used.

2. Synthetic oils are not recommended for old engines.

My question: What to do when an engine converted to synthetic gets old? e.g. a person switched to using synthetic oil when his car had done 60K kms, what should he use when the car completes 200K kms?

(If in point 2, "old engine" refers to 'old technology engine' instead of 'old age engine' then this question is invalid, and there is nothing to worry about)

1. Not true, its nothing but a myth. as long as u stick to the viscosity ratings specified by manufacturer, u can inter-change them.

2. Ture, old engines develop deposits with the passage of time, synthetic oil cleans the inner walls of cyl and u'd face weak compression, as wear/tear would be more visible, hidden by those deposits for time being.
