Toyota Prius 2012 head gasket

Toyota Prius 2012 head gasket

I imported a 2012 Prius myself, and it has accumulated around 60,000 kilometers in Pakistan, with a total mileage of

115,000 kilometers. Throughout its usage, I have diligently maintained it and never encountered any check engine

lights o r problems. The car has been driven extensively in hilly areas.

However, during a recent trip to Nathiagali, the car experienced overheating near Ayubia, causing the coolant to

overflow from the bottle. I promptly parked the car and allowed it to cool down for approximately five minutes.

Afterward, I refilled the coolant bottle with mineral water, and the car performed well for the remainder of the

journey to Nathiagali and back to Islamabad.

The next morning, the car exhibited a brief rattling sound upon starting, lasting for about two seconds. I searched

for information online and came across YouTube videos suggesting a possible issue with the head gasket. However, local

mechanics whom I consulted reassured me that the car is fine and only needs a coolant replacement with Toyotas

lifelong coolant.

I am curious if anyone else has experienced a similar issue o r is familiar with this specific head gasket problem that

appears to have affected many Prius owners according to discussions on PriusChat.

The overheating issue you experienced with your imported 2012 Prius in Pakistan could potentially be related to a head gasket problem. While local mechanics reassured you that a coolant replacement should fix the issue, its always a good idea to get a second opinion from a reputable mechanic o r Toyota dealership. Online discussions can provide insights, but individual experiences may vary. Prompt maintenance and addressing concerns promptly are important.
