URGENT HELP NEEDED ... Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Hi All,
Need a little bit of advice. Yesterday the malfunction indicator lamp of my xli became lit. Saw the Manual and it says I should get the vehicle checked / repaired as soon as possible. In the current situation, it may not be possible for a couple of days.
Just wanted to know is it dangerous to drive with the malfunction indicator on?

you can drive it.....the light will blink 1 to 4 times than go solid, it is sending the signal what wrong in it...you have to take it to dealer and he will put scan on it....and tell you exactly whats wrong with it..... the best way to re-set is un-plug the postive cable from battery for 5 minutes and re-hook it back see what happend
