dear xperts, please list the benefits of having proper
valve clearance in engine,and the effects of higher or lower
clearance in case if it is kept. thnxx

salaam:

always keep the valve clearances within the specs.
the clearance values for cold engine are less than that of hot engine settings. i prefer to adjust the valves while the engine is cold, i.e., when it sits unstarted overnight. this gives me more accurate results.
clearly an engine with right valve clearance will deliver performance with less noise.

you will cook the valve seats in case of clearances set too tight, so in contrast of this remember "a tappy engine is a happy engine!"
