VTI Pros 04 - ignition goes blank sumtm 4 no reson
VTI Pros 04 - ignition goes blank sumtm 4 no reson
A colleague of mine has a 2004 VTI Prosmatec. His car as he told me today has a strange problem. At times his ignition would go blank (like the car is in gear and wont start) even if in parking position.
He has been running automatic vehicles for the last 5 - 6 years and is an electrical engineer himself (that is to say a technical person not a layman).
Almost everything has been done to get it correct but not solved.
1. Batteries replaced etc.
2. Starter replaced etc.
3. Generator serviced.
4. Finally he told the mechanic to get the two ignition wires directly out for him in case of problem so that he can put them across the battery in case of need. This was two months ago. Since then the problem has not occured though.
His latest idea is the switch(es) which tell the system that the car is in P is not behaving correctly. Sometimes behaves sometimes misbehaves.
Anyone who has experienced such a problem with his vti prosmatec and got to correct it should share his experience.

the ignition will go blank if the car is in any gear other than P or N..
sumtimes,, problems with a rough used gear lever causes the contacts not to be made proper..even though the lever is in a specific gear...
tell him to swith to ON position then wait for a second for the check engine light to turn off... then see which gear is shown in the speedometer,,, if its N or P, then crank the engine...
