Are there any simple diagnostic steps that Prius owners can perform at home to confirm whether the starter motor is faulty before heading to a mechanic?

Battery Check: Use a multimeter to check the voltage of the 12V battery. If it’s low, try jump-starting the car.
Starter Motor Tap: If you hear a clicking sound, tap the starter motor with a hammer to see if it frees up. This can sometimes temporarily resolve the issue.
Lights and Accessories Check: Ensure that the dashboard lights and accessories work. If they don’t, the battery is more likely the issue.
