What are the most common causes of uneven tire tread wear in the Toyota Prius?

Prius owners often notice irregular tread wear patterns on their tires.
Could this be due to poor wheel alignment, unbalanced tires, worn-out suspension components, o r incorrect tire pressure?
How can owners identify the root cause of uneven wear before replacing tires?

Uneven tire wear on a Prius can be caused by:

Poor wheel alignment: Misalignment leads to excessive wear on one part of the tire, such as the inner o r outer edges.
Unbalanced tires: If the tires are not balanced correctly, they can wear unevenly, particularly on the edges.
Worn-out suspension components: Damaged o r worn-out suspension parts, such as struts o r shocks, can cause the tires to make inconsistent contact with the road.
Incorrect tire pressure: Both overinflation causing center wear and underinflation causing edge wear can result in uneven tread patterns.

Diagnosis: Owners can inspect tire wear patterns—if the wear is mainly on the outer o r inner edges, alignment may be the issue. If it’s uneven across the entire tread, it could be tire balance o r suspension.
