What exactly means that car smokes ?

hey people ,

i might sounds a bit thick but i am all confuse people saying my car gives smoke and blah as far as my observation i always saw car gives a little smoke when it starts over night or when starts after a long time of period and after that it goes back to normal my question is how exactly we define a car gives smoke does that car smokes all the time is it blackish ? and if its whitish than what does it means please explain me what people means there car smoke and if a car smokes a little bit when they starts on the morning like normal does that means it needs tunning or is it normal thanks in advance

in morning that was steam not smokes which vanished after sometime.
smokes smells is different than steam which produce due to engines rings and gasket fault and some other issue. black smokes produce for deisal engine only.
