Why Is My Suzuki Alto Consuming Excessive Engine Oil?

I’ve noticed that my Suzuki Alto is consuming more engine oil than usual. I need to top it up frequently, even though I havent noticed any oil leaks. What could be causing this excessive oil consumption? Is this a sign of a bigger engine issue, and how can I fix it?

Excessive engine oil consumption in your Suzuki Alto can be caused by several factors:

Worn Piston Rings: The piston rings help seal the combustion chamber, preventing oil from entering. If the rings are worn o r damaged, oil can leak into the combustion chamber and burn off, leading to excessive oil consumption.
Valve Seals: Worn valve seals can also allow oil to seep into the engines combustion chamber, causing the engine to burn more oil.
PCV Valve Issues: A malfunctioning Positive Crankcase Ventilation PCV valve can cause increased pressure in the engine and force oil into the combustion chamber, resulting in higher oil consumption.
Oil Leaks: Even if you don’t see visible leaks, small leaks around the oil pan, gaskets, o r seals can cause oil loss over time.
Incorrect Oil Viscosity: Using the wrong oil type o r viscosity can also lead to increased oil consumption. If the oil is too thin for the engine’s requirements, it may burn off faster.
Solution:

Check for Oil Leaks: Inspect the engine for signs of leaks around seals and gaskets. If leaks are found, get them repaired.
Engine Inspection: Have a mechanic inspect the engine for signs of worn piston rings o r valve seals. A compression test may help identify this issue.
PCV Valve Check: Get the PCV valve checked and replaced if necessary.
Use the Right Oil: Always use the recommended oil type and viscosity for your Suzuki Alto. Refer to your owner’s manual for guidance.
