Why is my Suzuki Alto Lapin consuming too much engine oil?

Excessive engine oil consumption is a concern for many Suzuki Alto Lapin owners in Pakistan. What are the common reasons for this issue? Could it be related to engine wear, faulty seals, o r improper oil viscosity?

Excessive engine oil consumption can result from several causes. Here are the most common reasons:

Worn-out Engine Components: Over time, engine components like piston rings, valve seals, and gaskets wear out, leading to oil leaks o r oil burning. This is especially common in older engines.

Incorrect Oil Viscosity: If the engine oil used does not meet the recommended viscosity for your Suzuki Alto Lapin, it may not adequately lubricate the engine, leading to increased oil consumption. The wrong viscosity can either flow too quickly o r not provide sufficient lubrication.

Poor Oil Quality: Low-quality oil can break down quickly, losing its ability to lubricate the engine effectively, which may lead to increased consumption.

Engine Overheating: If the engine is overheating due to a malfunctioning cooling system, it can burn oil faster.

Frequent Short Trips: Taking short trips without allowing the engine to reach optimal operating temperature can cause more oil consumption. The engine might not burn off all the oil effectively during these short trips.

Solution: To fix the issue, use the recommended oil type and viscosity, regularly check for leaks, and ensure the cooling system is functioning properly. If the engine is old, consider having it inspected for wear on key components like piston rings o r valve seals.
